FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about Scottish Hotels

The following information has been prepared from questions asked by our clients.

Do I pay a booking fee?
Definitely not! This is a consortium of hoteliers and no fees are payable because they are covered by the group.

What if I need to cancel?
Should you be un able to make your intended reservation, make sure you contact the hotel as soon as possible.

Can I book at short notice?
Yes! – You can book electronically up to the day before arrival or same day if you telephone us.

What if I am arriving late at the hotel?
Your booking will be guaranteed for late arrival but it is always worth calling the hotel to advise them if you are going to be very late. At some of the smaller hotels you may have the owner waiting up for you!

Children are travelling in our party do we get a discount?
Yes – Normally children receive a discount if sharing with 2 adults or half price in their own room.

Card bookings

Can I make a booking without a credit card?
Unfortunately - no. Hotels require a credit card number to secure a reservation. If the guest does not cancel the reservation within the cancellation notice period and does not arrive at the hotel, the hotel will usually charge the credit card for the first night’s accommodation. Without a credit card the hotel risks being left with an empty room with no one to charge for it. Please refer to Cancellation Policy for more information.

What credit card details must I send?
Hotels will require the credit card number, valid expiration date and also full name and billing address of the credit card holder.

What does the term Cancellation Policy mean?
This refers to the time limit in advance of arrival, before which you are entitled to cancel your booking without incurring a charge. In other words if a hotel has a cancellation policy of 24 hours prior to arrival, and you cancel prior to this time , then you will not incur a charge. However if you cancel less than 24 hours prior to arrival, then a charge will be incurred. This charge will normally be equal to the first nights accommodation.

What are the room sizes in the hotels?

Room Descriptions
A Single room is designed to accommodate one person only. The room contains one single bed. (approx. 3’ x 6’3" or 1m x 1.9m)
A Double room is designed to accommodate two people only. The room contains one queen bed. (approx. 4’6 x 6’3" or 1.4m x 1.9m)
A Twin room is designed to accommodate two people only. The room contains two single beds. (approx. 3’ x 6’3" or 1m x 1.9m)
A Family room is designed to accommodate two adults and up to two children.

What happens when we receive your request?
Once you have entered your requirements, the email will be sent to the hotel. When they have confirmed availability by email, your reservation will be secure. You should expect to hear from the hotel within 24 hours of sending your request. Normally hotels respond much faster but delays are often caused by hotels not being open to take reservations after midnight or on weekends.

Cancelling a reservation
Cancellation policies vary from hotel to hotel and usually refer how much notice you need to give to cancel your reservation without incurring a cancellation charge.
The cancellation notice is normally 24 hours before arrival i.e. You have to inform the hotel of any cancellation 24 hours before the arrival date.
If the cancellation is made after this time, the hotel may charge your credit card for the first night’s accommodation.

What happens if I don't cancel and don't arrive at the hotel?
In this case a non-arrival fee will be charged against your credit card, normally equal to the cost of the first nights accommodation.
